We are a group of students who think solar energy is really important. We realized it is hard to find reliable information to learn about how solar works and how people get it for their houses. We did research to find out the questions people need answered to help them learn about solar and have put them here so adults and kids can find them more easily. The more people get solar, the cheaper it will get and the faster we will save the planet.

The average cost of solar panel installation in Minnesota ranges from $14,662 to 19,838.

You should choose two or three places and see which is best for you. Think about things like size, reputation of the installer, and purchase costs.

This is a hard question to answer!!!

Average is 13 years in MN, and most will see payback period between 10 and 16 years - https://www.ecowatch.com/solar/worth-it/mn

5-15 years in most of the US - https://www.solarreviews.com/blog/how-to-calculate-your-solar-payback-period

Why is it so hard to figure out? Here are some things to consider:
The roof size and size of system
The roof size matters because everyone has a different roof. The bigger your roof, the bigger the system you could install. Bigger system makes more power, but is more expensive

The electricity bill because you could have a small system and save money. And if we use lots of electricity we need a bigger system.
It usually takes two to four days to install solar panels. It depends on the size of the system.

You don't have pay for energy from the energy company.  Because the sun never runs out of energy.
  • Because solar panels used to be really expensive, but it got cheaper after years passed.
  • Because people don't know that solar panels have gotten cheaper.
  • People think that they don't have enough sunlight
  • They also think it will also take a lot of space on the roof.
When you grow up, you can work with Solar Energy.
You can tell people about how important solar panels are. You can tell them;
  • They produce clean energy
  • Make your energy bill cheap later
  • It is good for the environment
